Advice: What should I put into my wedding day emergency kit?For the BrideExcept for your wedding dress, your groom’s ring and your wedding license, your emergency kit is the most important thing to remember on your wedding day. It contains everything you’ll need to take care of all those little unforeseen emergencies. A great wedding coordinator will put one together for you; but if you don’t have a coordinator, you can make your own.

It should include:

  • Hair brush
  • Hair spray
  • Curling iron
  • Deodorant
  • Lotion
  • Baby powder (if anyone perspires, this will help keep them dry)
  • Clothes steamer
  • Sanitary items
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste (you can purchase toothbrushes with toothpaste already on them at Wal-Mart)
  • Band-aids
  • Dr. Scholl’s “Moleskin” (protects your feet from blisters)
  • Scissors
  • Needles and thread in black, white and colors matching the other dresses in your wedding party
  • Extra nylons
  • White towel
  • Clear nail polish (for runs)
  • Scotch tape
  • White envelopes (for vendor tips)
  • Extra pen
  • 3x5 cards for the gift table (for guests who forget their gift card)
  • Extra copies of the readings for the ceremony
  • Breath mints (Life Savers are great -- freshens your breath and helps prevent a dry mouth during pictures)

For the GroomEvery groom should have his own emergency kit as well.

It should include:

  • Extra pairs of black socks
  • White T-shirts (in case someone forgets to wear one)
  • Breath mints
  • Deodorant
  • Hair spray
  • Combs
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste

Another important tip: Be sure to have everyone in your wedding party, bride included, break in their shoes prior to the wedding day. Scuff the bottoms on the sidewalk to avoid slipping on the carpet during the grand entrance.
